By the time you read this, I will have visited the two schools in southern Mali that Passports with Purpose raised money to build last fall. Much more on that will come very soon.
But first, it is time for this year’s PwP fundraiser!
Running from December 2 to December 17, this year’s annual online fundraiser will be raising money for Sustainable Harvest International. SHI is devoted to fighting poverty and malnutrition while promoting sustainable farming and environmental conservation in Central America. The PwP fundraiser will focus specifically on Honduras – for every $5,000 we raise, SHI will help one family in Honduras learn to farm sustainably and feed their family for years to come.
As always, for every $10 you donate to PwP, you get one entry into a drawing for a specific prize. This year, I am SUPER excited to be hosting an AMAZING prize donated by Wildland Trekking.
For just $10, you can enter to win a 4-day backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon valued at $1000!
Wildland offers a variety of four-day Grand Canyon trips – I did the Rim-to-Rim trip last May and it was incredible. There is no better way to experience the Grand Canyon than to trek all the way to the bottom and back up again. It was challenging, but do-able, and the scenery was beyond anything I expected – my pictures really don’t do it justice. My guides from Wildland were also great, from cooking up delicious meals catering to a variety of dietary restrictions in our group to helping me through my broken toe to educating us all about the history and geology of the canyon. I could not have asked for a better experience (well, I could have done without the broken toe). The prize includes transportation between Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon, professional guides, nearly all of your gear and all of your meals during the trek.
The more you donate, the more chances you have to win this trip or any number of other great prizes (remember, two years ago, I won a three-week photo trek to Nepal!).
