I wanted an easy day hike outside of Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. Instead, I ended up hiking one of the most difficult “trails” of my life in the Chatkal Mountains – better known as Chimgan due to the name of the central peak and a nearby town. I experienced more pain than I have in years, but I was at least rewarded with this view of the surrounding mountains.
